About Our Plants
About Theodore Payne Foundation
The Theodore Payne Foundation inspires and educates Southern Californians about the beauty and ecological benefits of California native plant landscapes. We do this through outreach and advocacy, educational offerings, our seed program, bookstore and extensive native plant nursery. The majority of plants sold through our nursery are grown from seeds or cuttings on-site, and we are proud to supply plants for municipal projects, urban revitalization and home gardeners alike.
Native Plants
California native plants are beautiful, resilient, and perfectly adapted to our climate. There are many compelling reasons to plant them in your garden: they create habitat for our local wildlife, use less resources than traditional landscape plants, and create a unique sense of place and connection to the wild landscape within our human environments. We encourage you to visit our homepage for more information.
Specialty Plant Offerings
TPF horticulturists are constantly tinkering, and are excited to bring you rare and unique plants for your garden. Check our specialty plant offerings for a current selection of staff favorites, new introductions and collector’s plants.
Please Plant Responsibly
The Theodore Payne Foundation kindly asks you to protect the delicate balance of our native ecosystems by sowing seeds on private property and not in parks, open spaces or wilderness areas.
