Our seed store carries on the legacy begun by Theodore Payne in 1903, offering an expansive selection of native wildflower, grass, ground cover, shrub, tree, vine and bulb species.
Grow Local, Plant Native Seed Offerings
Our Grow Local, Plant Native seed offerings are hand-collected from plants grown on TPF grounds from wild-collected local seeds. Look for the special hand-collected icon 
. This means that they will grow well-adapted native plants that help support local habitat.
Grow Local, Plant Native seeds are provided sustainably, ethically and with utmost care. All original wild seeds from which plants are grown are collected under permit. A portion of these wild-sourced seeds are stored in our Long Live LA Conservation Seed Bank.
This program helps bridge fragmented habitats while preserving, protecting and supporting precious wild stands. To learn more, visit: Seed Program.
Specialty Seed Offerings
Looking for something hard-to-find? Browse through our specialty seed offerings! We work all year to collect and process seeds from plants lovingly cultivated on our grounds. Other specialty items are farm-sourced, and stored in our seed refrigerators until they are made available to you. Seed Mixes: Whether it’s creating a stunning meadow, attracting pollinators to your urban balcony, controlling erosion on a hillside or building habitat for your desert tortoise, TPF’s renowned and colorful seed mixes contain annuals and perennials that will help you accomplish your native plant goals. Seed Series: Our seed series are medleys of individual seed packets. Choose Regional Ecology or Edible and Medicinal Seed Series, and look for more series options in the future.
Collections: TPF’s curated seed collections make great gifts for any gardener! Each kit is packaged in a themed tin and includes seeds, sowing instructions, plant photos and descriptions, plant tags, a pencil, sowing instructions, a native plant magnet, and an activity or informational insert. We also offer Theodore Payne’s historical Souvenir Collection, packaged in a collectible envelope with original art.
