Cucurbita foetidissima - Calabazilla, Buffalo Gourd (Plant)

This intriguing plant emerges from a tuberous root in winter and spring. It trails like a vine along the ground, producing yellow-orange flowers and a foul-smelling softball-size gourd. Gourds are decorative but are considered inedible and mildly toxic.
